VectorY is a vector drawing program built for kids and teens — the kind of tool where you draw a line, and it stays a line you can keep bending, reshaping and recolouring forever. It has the tools you'd expect from a grown-up design program, but without the wall of buttons and jargon that makes those programs so hard to start with.

It runs straight in your browser. Nothing to install, no account, no sign-up.

I was teaching 2D game development to a class, and I had some students who really wanted to learn how to create digital art. So, I started looking for some great vector-based drawing software for kids and young people, but it was difficult to find something suitable because so many programs either required you to log in or pay for a subscription.

So, I sat down and used my experience to create a vector tool that would be easy for kids to learn. It all runs in a browser, so it can be opened on any computer, no matter what.

And I thought that other people might also love to learn digital art without all those annoying restrictions. that is why I uploaded the program to Itch.io.

The code and interface text for VectorY were written with the help of an AI assistant (Claude). The program itself contains no AI — nothing is generated for you, everything you see on the canvas is drawn by hand.
